Support to Integrate Protection and Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) in WFP

Project completed

Switzerland aims at supporting WFP’s capacity to integrate Protection, Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) and Gender in its programmes. The support is relevant because WFP is currently in the process of combining these dimensions, which is in line with Switzerland’s understanding of an efficient and effective humanitarian programming.

Background

In line with developments in the humanitarian sector globally, the World Food Programme is progressively integrating protection and accountability to affected populations (AAP) in its operations.

Objectives

Integration of protection and AAP should lead to improve the quality, effectiveness, and durability of the humanitarian response.

The quality, effectiveness, and durability of humanitarian response is improved. Protection, AAP and gender are integrated in WFP’s humanitarian programming.

Increase expertise in WFP’s Regional Bureaux.


Results from previous phases:  

Since the adoption of the WFP protection policy in 2012, 30 country offices – more than a third of the total – have begun work to integrate protection into their programming and operations.
