JOR – Jordan INGO Forum (JIF) via NRC (host organisation)
The Jordan INGO Forum (JIF) plays a crucial role in coordinating the efforts of international NGOs supporting Syrian refugees in Jordan. Recognizing its importance, Switzerland, EU and other donors provide support to JIF to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the refugee response. This is particularly vital amid shrinking humanitarian resources and shifting regional dynamics, as JIF continues to address refugees' needs, strengthen resilience, and promote durable solutions.

Contesto |
For over a decade, Jordan has hosted over 1.3 million Syrian refugees in addition to 2.4 million Palestinian refugees, which places immense pressure on its resources and infrastructure. The prolonged Syria crisis has resulted in significant socio-economic challenges, including high unemployment and increased poverty for refugees and vulnerable Jordanians. To address these issues, effective coordination among all stakeholders is crucial. Key challenges include the high number of refugees, the uncertainty surrounding Syria's future, and the need for ongoing financial support. Additionally, bureaucratic hurdles in the project approval process and differing priorities among stakeholders further hinder coordination efforts. The Jordan INGO Forum (JIF), a network of 54 international NGOs, plays a vital role in addressing these challenges. JIF coordinates efforts, advocates for sustainable solutions, and supports both refugees and vulnerable Jordanians through various initiatives. Their work is essential in fostering resilience and promoting sustainable development amidst the ongoing crisis. |
