To celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Switzerland and China, “Absent Presence”, the first exhibition in China by the legendary Swiss photographer Henry Leutwyler, opened on November 1st 2025 at the IOMA Art Museum in Beihai, Guangxi.
Shanghai Minsheng Art Museum is pleased to present Tales of Now: Contemporary Swiss Comics from the Fumetto Festival, opening on December 20, 2025. Curated by Eleonora Bitterli, the exhibition is jointly organized by the Shanghai Minsheng Art Museum, the Embassy of Switzerland in China and the Fumetto Comic Festival Luzern.
Organized by the Swiss Embassy in China, the Sino-Swiss Zero Emission Buildings Project Exhibition “Building Type / Climate Zone” presents the achievements of five years of close cooperation between Switzerland and China in the field of sustainable and zero-emission buildings. Supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and China’s Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development (MOHURD), the Sino-Swiss Zero Emission Buildings Project (ZEB) (2021–2025) aims to address global climate change and promote the low-carbon transformation of the building sector.
Swiss glass artist Simon Berger’s first ever large-scale exhibition in China opened on 1 November at the Winland Center in Hangzhou. Berger is renowned for combining technical expertise, unique craftmanship and a distinctive visual language in his innovative glass-breaking art. Using safety glass as his canvas, Simon Berger skilfully shatters the surface with a hammer to create vivid portraits – a method he refers to as 'precision painting'.
This summer, the Embassy of Switzerland invited nine artists from Switzerland to pursue residencies in China as part of the CH><CN Studios program. We also invited seven Chinese artists with international study or work experience to participate. As a major outcome of the Swiss Embassy’s “CH><CN Studio” project, Breakdown Playlist brings together the latest works of these 16 emerging artists from both countries.
Celebrate Swiss food culture in Beijing with the Eat Swiss 瑞食一下 campaign, part of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Switzerland and China. This campaign brings Swiss flavors, design, and creativity directly to the city’s culinary scene. Swiss chef Michaela Frank, one of Switzerland’s most promising young talents and the youngest chef in Switzerland to earn 14 Gault Millau points, will cook exclusive Swiss dishes for guests in Beijing.

To celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Switzerland and China, the ‘Once Upon a Page’ exhibition - contemporary comics from Fumetto Festival Lucerne – opened on August 28 at the Tsinghua University Art Museum in Beijing.
To celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Switzerland and China, as well as China-Switzerland Year of Culture and Tourism, the Embassy of Switzerland in China, in collaboration with Juanzong Bookstore and Aranya Library, presents The Most Beautiful Swiss Books 2021–2024 exhibition to the public, showcasing the outstanding achievements of Switzerland in the field of book design.
The exhibition brings together no fewer than 233 exhibits by 49 artists from the Collection de l’Art Brut, as well as pieces by four self-taught Chinese artists. It is the first comprehensive research-based presentation of the development of Art Brut in China.
The exhibition ‘Cosmos Archaeology: Exploration in Time and Space’, jointly organized by the Embassy of Switzerland in China, the National Museum of China (NMC ), and the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, with support from the Department of Astronomy and the Academy of Arts & Design at Tsinghua University, was officially unveiled at the NMC on July 2nd. This is the first Swiss exhibition held at the new NMC since its opening and marks a highlight in the celebrations of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Switzerland and China.
The touring exhibition, ‘Swiss Design Classics’, which forms a key part of the public diplomacy program marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Switzerland, is set to open at the Fosun Foundation in Shanghai at the end of May. It is curated by Christian Herren, jointly hosted by the Embassy of Switzerland in China, the Consulate General of Switzerland in Shanghai and the Fosun Foundation.
The Shenzhen stop of the 'Swiss Design Classics' exhibition was grandly unveiled at the Sea World Culture and Art Center on April 11. It will run until May 11, 2025, offering audiences a window into the essence of Swiss design and innovation. To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Switzerland, the Embassy of Switzerland in China and the Consulate General of Switzerland in Guangzhou, together with the Sea World Culture and Arts Center, jointly organized the “Swiss Design Classics” Exhibition.
Swiss photographer Henry Leutwyler's exhibition PORTRAITS EN SILENCE opened on March 13 at Parts Unknown Gallery in Suzhou. On the opening day, the Deputy Consul General of Switzerland in Shanghai Istvan Kocsis gave a warm welcome speech in the presence of the artist. A total of 41 enchanting photographs will be on display from March 14 to April 30.
