On the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Switzerland and China, the Consulate General of Switzerland in Guangzhou, in co-operation with the Swiss Foundation for Photography in Zurich, is showing the exhibition “CHINA BETWEEN YESTERDAY AND TOMORROW” with 65 photographs by the Swiss photographer Fernand Gigon from the 1950s.
Besides getting a glimpse of the diverse Swiss cultures, visitors to the event organized by the Consulate General of Switzerland in Guangzhou will also acquire practical knowledge of Switzerland as an attractive investment location, appealing travel destination and leading country in energy utilization following three seminars on trade, travel and energy.
The exhibition will show work and projects by Venezuelan-born, Swiss-based architect Christian Kerez who seeks to elucidate his particular approach, which emphasises how architecture does not exist in and of itself, but is rather a reflection of a practice of questioning, and of working with the unexpected. At its core, the things we take for granted must be seen again, in a new light. The exhibition will present examples of his designs together with his photography and video works, among them models of a high-rise in Zhengzhou, the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, Leutschenbach School, House with one wall.

Through reverse thinking, Curator Mei Huang has built a bridge for the Chinese and Swiss artists to have an in-depth dialogue on the contemporary art, with the Chinese artist Tan Ping elucidating his abstractness and Swiss artist Luciano Castelli exploring his figurativeness.
