The first official visit as OSCE Chairperson-in-Office to the priority region of the Western Balkans by the President of the Swiss Confederation, Didier Burkhalter, takes place in April. The visit takes him to Serbia, Albania and Kosovo, where he meets with political decision-makers and discussed the engagement of the Swiss OSCE Chairmanship. The discussions focuses on support for three ongoing processes that are key to stability in the region: the normalisation of the situation in the north of Kosovo in accordance with the conditions set out by the Belgrade-Pristina agreement of April 2013, the intensification of efforts regarding regional cooperation, and promoting reconciliation in the region, especially the resolution of the issue of missing persons. Connecting with young people is also an objective for the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office. Mr Burkhalter meets with young people from all three countries in Albania and Kosovo to discuss issues concerning democracy and the political system.
