As part of the FDFA's periodic transfer rotation and on the basis of appointments made by the Federal Council, personnel changes and the conferment of ambassadorial titles will take place in 2025 and 2026 at several Swiss representations and at the head office of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA).

Appointments made on 15 October 2025

Pascale Baeriswyl has been appointed ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary and permanent representative of Switzerland to the Council of Europe, based in Strasbourg.

Muriel Berset Kohen has been appointed ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Republic of Slovenia, based in Ljubljana.

Pascal Bornoz has been appointed ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Dominican Republic, Antigua and Barbuda, the Commonwealth of Dominica, the Republic of Haiti and the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis, based in Santo Domingo.

Anne-Lise Cattin Hennin has been appointed ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Republic of Kosovo, based in Pristina.

Gilles Cerutti has been appointed ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Republic of Rwanda, based in Kigali.

Stefan Estermann has been appointed ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Republic of Belarus, based in Minsk.

Fabrice Filliez has been appointed ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of Thailand, the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Lao People's Democratic Republic, and observer of Switzerland to the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), based in Bangkok.

Lukas Gasser has been appointed ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Portuguese Republic, based in Lisbon.

Simone Petra Giger has been appointed ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Republic of Uzbekistan, based in Tashkent.

Heidi Grau has been appointed ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova, based in Kyiv.

Conferment of ambassadorial titles at the FDFA made on 15 October 2025

Balz Abplanalp has been awarded the title of ambassador for his new role as head of the Prosperity and Sustainability Division (PSD) within the FDFA State Secretariat in Bern.

Salman Bal has been awarded the title of ambassador for his new role as liaison officer within the Office of the Secretary General for the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) in Vienna.

Félix Baumann has been awarded the title of ambassador for his new role as consul general in New York.

Paul Garnier has been awarded the title of ambassador for his new role as head of the UN Division within the FDFA State Secretariat in Bern.

Véronique Hulmann Marti has been awarded the title of ambassador for her new role as head of the Asia – Americas Division and assistant director general of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) in Zollikofen.

Valérie Liechti has been awarded the title of ambassador for her new role as head of the Africa Division and assistant director general of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) in Zollikofen.

Gilles Roduit has been awarded the title of ambassador for his new role as head of Bilateral Relations at the Europe Division within the FDFA State Secretariat in Bern.

Alain Gaschen has been awarded the title of ambassador for his new mandate as Federal Council Delegate for the G7 Summit from 14 to 16 June 2026 within the FDFA State Secretariat in Bern.
